about Daydreams & Ponderings

The space

Daydreams and Ponderings is a space for us to come together to share life experiences, thoughts, dreams and maybe some ramblings.

We will chat about all the things we encounter on this journey of life.  The pauses, crossroads, joys, tough moments, our hopes for our future and our reflections on our past:  our daydreams and our ponderings.

Beyond discussion of life as a whole, you will find informational posts on family and relationships, personal health and wellness, beauty, travel, food and cocktails and many more interesting topics many of us commonly ponder.

Your Author

Hey there!  I am Victoria.  This is my blog, but it is my greatest hope that it will become your blog as well.  A meeting place for our minds.

I believe that this journey of life, while a winding one full of challenges, is a beautiful journey that should be traveled with open eyes and an open mind.  Our goal should be to take it in and shed our own light out the whole way through.  We have a short time to travel our path.  I think of this journey as one with no directions, just a wide open map before us, a constant choose your own adventure.  We lead the way to discover hidden and beautiful unknown destinations rather than following directions to get us down the road.

A little detail about who I am…I have a master’s degree in cultural anthropology, which I chose for the amazing subject matter:  people across all time and space.  Being a person who wishes I could travel across all time (yes I would love to go back in time) and space made this a perfect fit for me. I enjoy experiencing new places, people, culture..the beauty in this world.  My focus has been on sustainability and political ecology, the interface between people and our environment and the multitude of factors that impact this relationship, with specific interest in the Caribbean region.

While I despise labels, I will throw out a few for you here.  I am a wife, a mother of two boys, a daughter of wonderful parents and a sister to four siblings.  I have been teacher to my kids (literally two years of homeschool), real estate agent, and writer.  I have planned destination weddings and milestone parties and am known to our family and friends as the cook, the baker, the mixologist, the “picky” foodie who will find the best place to eat anywhere and the one who plans a perfect vacation.

We do a lot of entertaining in our house where you will often find an extravaganza of food, a gourmet taco bar, or a new baked good coming out of the oven.  You may walk into a kitchen dance party at any hour of the day or night and you will always hear music and laughter.  Music is life: from the background to our scenes to the inspiration for them.

While I thoroughly enjoy food, I do feel strongly about being fit and healthy and need a good workout in my day for both my physical and mental health.

If I am not at home, you can often find me at the beach enjoying the ocean breeze and sunshine.  I love the outdoors and nature and truly believe that we belong outside much more than we are.  I think we long to be there whether we know it or not.  I grew up camping, hiking, being in the woods, playing in the creek, sailing:  being outside as much as possible.

On a more personal note, I am an introvert who has struggled to find my voice, despite the fact that my mind has so much to say.  It is my hope that this space will allow me an opportunity to share some of myself in a thoughtful and meaningful way that you will connect with and one that will help you find your voice as well.  Thank you for being here! I can’t wait to hear from you as we build this community together!
