Young Dreamers Journey Into the Middle Ground of Life

Young Dreamers eventually travel into the middle ground of life.  The future looks different than it ever did before.  We find ourselves at a crossroads of looking back at all that was and forward to a more certain future.  We were always told to enjoy being young for it goes by in a blink, but we forged ahead to the infinite unknown.  Now we find ourselves wanting to slow it all down and catch our breath.

When we were young we were dreamers.  Freedom was a given no matter how elusive it may have seemed at the time, as we sat around late at night in candlelight listening to music and sharing all of the ponderings of our hearts and minds.

Our future awaited and it was such a magical mystery waiting to be discovered.  But…as we ran down the path in that direction as quickly as our feet would move us we knew nothing.  Nothing at all.

The late nights now are tired.  Even as our mind prompts us to return to an open joyful stream they become clouded with the reality we have come to learn.  The nights are short.  Much TOO SHORT.  We can move ourselves to dance and feel free in brief moments of solitude.  As we jump around and dance in circles, moving our bodies freely, lifting our hands to the sky as we move our bodies feeling free once again, we imagine the friends from our life surrounding us and smiling and dancing with us.  As the song slows and the sound quiets we are left standing still and alone, looking out at infinitely fewer tomorrows.  Now rather than imagining beautiful things, all the moments that have brought smiles and tears flow through our consciousness in the same brief instant as bittersweet memories stamped on our soul .  All of these intricate pieces of us coming together in a rare moment and then exploding out from our heart like fireworks in that grand finale that one anticipates the whole way through the show, but dreads at the end for it means it is all over.

It is no secret.  Human life is suffering.  Joyous and beautiful, but painful suffering.  The further we are on our journey we realize what this really means.  Not that we literally suffer through it all.  Life if beautiful and wonderful!  But there are certain truths that become more evident as we make our way along.  We face a lot of challenges throughout all phases and transitions in life and many bring us unavoidable pain.

Our path is the way we navigate through it all, either blazing ahead or tiptoeing from one stone to the next…It doesn’t really matter.  We can’t slow it down.  We can’t hold on too tight.  There is no jumping off the ledge and no sinking below the surface of this life.  The wheel keeps spinning.  We keep moving and no matter how desperately we want to pause to look at the beautiful faces or feel the touch that lights our heart on fire, it all just keeps moving by us.

The freedom we sought when we were young and new on a never ending path before us, we never knew we had all along.  Now it comes only in fleeting moments when we release ourselves from all suffering and allow the positive energy to flow in and out, as it was always destined to, before we return to our path forward.  Constantly traveling forward towards what we now know is the end of a mere breath of a journey, a blink.
